I was mountain biking yesterday and a baby chipmunk tried to run away as I was coming up. It turned all of a sudden and ran into the spokes of my wheels!

Chipmunks thought mountain bikers would be easier to pass then cars. Once again proving bikes are better then cars. :)

Don't feel bad, many things have tried to find their way under or into my wheels, usually I'm able to get out of the way but not always. I accidentally ran over a snake the other day, and once I almost ran into a turkey, the thing scared me to death. It did the gobble thing at me and I just had to ride away as fast as I could, in fear that more would come. Those things are big when you get up close to them. Came darn close to hitting a bird as well.

I had a seagull fly right into the main triangle of my frame. I did the splits on my saddle until it finally flew out. Scared the livin' crap out of me.

You should have ziptied the little chipmunk pelt to your stem as a warning to other inattentive woodland creatures.

oh man well yesterday I almost hit a squirel but thats nothing...
about a week ago me and a deer had a collision, I was taking the bike path into the back of my high school to meet up with some friends before hitting the trails, and there were two deer by the side of the path, one does the smart thing and runs into the woods, but the other one(which happens to be a baby)...well it more of hit my handlebar than I hit it, damn scary it was, damn scary, got to my friends with a heartrate of about 180

I nearly hit a big red kangaroo one night while going flat out down a single trail. The thing just hopped out infront of me and scared the absolute crap out of me.
He was about 6foot tall or more.

I was riding at dusk and had a owl fly right in front of me and then turned down the trail in the same direction I was riding. Followed right behind him for a couple hundred yards. VERY COOL!
Along this same idea. I was riding in a paceline when a squirrel committed suicide by trying to run through my buddies back wheel. Problem was, I was right behind him. I got splattered head to toe in furry squirrel guts. We all pulled off the road and about a dozen cars stopped when they saw a cyclist covered in blood. Even the EMT's were called out. We went through 5 water bottles trying to clean me off. Plus, my buddies wheel go so whacked out of true is wasn't rideable.

a2psyklnut - I know I really shouldn't laugh but I just nearly wet myself laughing :D.
Anyhoo... When I lived in northern Scotland a few years ago, most of my friends who actually lived in the area had, at some time in their lives, killed a deer whilst driving at night. Just a hazard of living where you live I guess.

You murdering swine! How did it feel to kill it, then? Made you feel macho, eh? Testosterone Rider Kills Chipmunk. Give him a medal.

natural selection. chipmunks too stupid to stay out of the way of wheels die. the way of the world, i'm afraid.

Hah, i went turkey hunting once and accidently blew the leg off the turkey. My father thought it'd be funny to tell me it was sporting to hit the head and it was eating deer feed. Well, it moved right as I squeezed the trigger; 357 slugs fly slow and by the time the bullet got the it had already stepped where its head was. Then it flew away! After doing five or six 360's.
Ok, sorry, totally unrelated. ;)
