General Cycling Discussion - what i've learned about bikes on craigslist...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

you know it's a good price for the bike when the ad is gone within hours of being put up.

somebody had a vintage chubei on CL here for $20, I figured I might have til Saturday to take a look. bike is gone. I've never heard of chubei but it looked like a frame i could use :innocent:

Yeah man, don't slip on anything for sale on CL if you really want it. I'm a certified craigslist snagger; I think whenever I'm on a computer, I check my local craigslist every 25 mins or so. I just got home and one of the first things I did upon turning on the computer was to go on craigslist, even though I don't have any money to spend.

WHAT A RELIEF!
I'm just so glad to know, that I'm not alone with this CL obsession. :)

I don't know the details, but have heard that somehow there's a way to get Craigslist RSS feeds containing words you specify. CL offers RSS feeds, but there's a way to filter them somehow.

The hardcore types send it to their web/email phones, so they can jump on any ad as soon as it appears.

I never asked the details as I've got too much junk already.

About 6 months ago I found an '09 Cannondale Synapse triple on CL for $500 including tools, helmet and shoes. Bike was just my size. It was located just a few blocks from my house so I made a call and got right over there..it had been on the local CL for 30 minutes.
I got it but it was a very close call..the snatchers were desending quickly but I had cash and a rack.

If it looks even close to a good deal jump it quick and sort it out later.

fortunately, I didnt have a hard urge or need for this bike, it just seemed like it might be cool to have & I've been thinking of having a flat bar road bike, I would have tinkered with this one & either made a flatbar or a single speed. Funny thing though, it looked like a heavy old steel roadie, I never guessed it would go so fast.
