I was recently bought a 'Claud Butler' CApe Wrath for my 13th birthday. (I have been told this company doesn't exist in America). Anyway, iyt came with a Rockshox Judy TT fork. I have heard that this only gets worse with age and i was wondering if anyone knew how long until i should replace it.

I would say worry about maintaining the thing correctly BEFORE saving pennies to get a new one. Many who let their forks go to s*** don't take care of it like they should. Even a SID World Cup would wear out if unmaintained.

yeah i do take care of it but it will eventually wear down so i was just wondering if i should save my pennies now or in three years time. And also any recommendations for a new fork under £200 would be nice too! (80-100mm travel)

Dave,

Keep it for now, especially if you're a new rider. After you get some experience with it, you'll start to notice where it's lacking, but if you're anything like me, you'll hardly be able to tell the difference between a $75 fork and a $300 fork when you first start. Plus, after you've ridden for a little while, you'll have a better idea of what you're looking for in a fork. Not to mention, you've got the fork, it works now, why not get some use out of it?

You're right, Claude Butler does not market in the US, but you have a good bike there that will be great for getting around and allow you to start honing your skills on the trails. In a couple of years, you'll have a definite preference for the type of riding you enjoy most and that's the time to start picking upgrades.

Enjoy!

or you could give somebody on the boards a sweet deal on a TT fork and grab something before you beat it up.

I have a Judy TT on my Haro HT that I've ridden about 3X/week for 6 months. It's still working fine, although not a smooth as the Duke U-turn on my new DS bike. FYI- I'm 6ft and around 175 lbs. My advise is to enjoy the Judy TT and replace it when it wears out (perhaps 2-3 seasons if you ride hard). As was mentioned before- by then you will have a better idea what you want in a fork.
