Hey guys, i`m wondering where the best LBS are for a fixed gear.
I`m currently looking for a ride and i`m just doing some research before i actually buy one. I`m also planning to do a few test rides which is why i`m wondering where these shops are or if any shops that carry em.
I am 100% that i want a fixed, although, like i said, i`m still doing my research and looking for my ride.

list some shops that:
-carry the fg/ss
-have great service (professional help, advice, honest people)
-have reasonable prices

p.s. I know I should research where some local shops are but i also want to hear from you guys and what you guys think of LBS`s you came across

thanks!

so far, i`ve heard of:
-MightyRiders
http://www.mightyriders.ca/
-Jett Grrl Bike studio
http://www.jettgrrl.com/index.html
-SuperChampion
http://www.superchampionshop.com/

Please please please, list some more and share your thoughts on some LBSs!

My vote goes to Jett Grrl, Tracy is super to deal with and her prices are very reasonable.

Another places you might want to consider looking at is Dream Cycle on Commercial Drive.

Though I built my fixie while in TO, I dealt with Ed at Mighty Riders a fair bit when acquiring my Rohloff. I'm pretty sure that Mighty Riders started off as more of a fixie shop before it expanded into other styles. Ed's a pretty knowledgeable guy, and if I ever was unsure of something, I would probably seek his advice.

That being said, I have no experience with Jett Grrl or SuperChampion.

I don't ride a FG, but strongly recommend Mighty for honest advice and top quality work. Can't comment on the others.

Superchampion is pretty dedicated to fg; they've got all sorts of arcane fg parts, like Sugino cranks for example. I've also seen their guys at the velodrome, but then I've also seen Mighty Riders guys out there as well. I've also dealt with Jett Grrl, she is good.

But if you're going to ride fixed, you should really build it yourself, so you can see what the issues are and develop your own perspective. You can buy a reasonably cheap and trendy fixie from MEC, but then you're buying into their perspective of what fixed gear is all about, and maybe you're beyond being a pseudo-hipster. Where you buy the bike lends no further cachet.
