Do any of you guys carry pepper spray???... If so, what is the suggested brand?...

Cops are equipped with a plethora of lethal and non-lethal weapons to defend themselves or others and to subdue suspects. They sometimes get into trouble (rightfully) when these are used on a suspect that is already subdued.

Yeah, we already know that from when cars hit us cyclists.

Agreed.
At that time in the morning, anything can happen.
I always thought the cyclist is considered too poor for robbery. I guess I'm wrong!

That reminds me to get my serial numbers on my bikes : O. *facepalm* California is the biggest pile of gansta crap. Rule of thumb: Out of sight, LOCK IT UP! Even if you gotta turn around for a minute! FFS where is a good taser when you need one! Just turn it on and wire it so it sticks out on the brakes and then it shocks the hell outta them if they touch it. They start goin' really fast and then go to stop and...well you get the idea. Light weight, versatile, TASER INC. We turn "Oh ****!" into "Oh the **** if I'm letting you take my bike!"

I would have thought that the places where gun carrying was allowed would make crooks think twice before attacking folks. I thought id read that that's part of the gun advocates argument which had always made sense to me. Guess crooks are just plain to stupid(or simply dont care) to give it much thought.

It generally does. Conversely, it can also make muggings more violent since an easy way to defeat a concealed carry is to incapacitate a victim during a robbery. Traditionally, a person would be threatened with violence unless they gave up their valuables. Once he had the money, the perpetrator would run. Any mugger with the nerve to rob people in a concealed carry state might attack someone without warning, overpowering them, then taking their valuables (including gun). He wouldn't leave until he was sure that his victim was in no shape to shoot with a possible hidden second weapon.
Either way, I don't worry about muggings. They're extremely rare.
