View Full Version : What drink to consume during a race???

Hiya,



Im new to Triathlons and trying to figure out what the best liquids to take during a race. I have only used Gatorade, but found my stomach girgling constantly, which then leads to the odd "burping". Can anyone recommend any other drinks that would be beneficial when racing?

Accelerade, Endurox, Cytomax are examples that you might try. The brand probably isn't critical. Buy small quantities of each and experiment during training. Don't wait until an event to experiment. None of them taste great, but the best one for you will be the one that doesn't upset your stomach and is most palatable.

Water is very neutral and works best of all the drinks when washing down a gel.

I use Gatorade but diluted by half. Full-strength can be too much. Keep experimenting during your training and when you find the right solution use that during the race.

E-Fuel...works great for me. http://www.cranksports.com/ They have gels and a sports type drink that is concentrated that you mix with water. Very easy to use on the road. Haven't bonked once since using it!!
