United Kingdom - Recommendation: TFL journer planner

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Transport for London has a Journey planner, that will give you bicycle routes if you start from here:

http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/cycling/11598.aspx or select "Cycle only route" on the standard Journey planner page.

A tried this a year or two ago, and it was bad. It suggested the best way to get from West London to the city was via the A4. Now, it's offering quite creative routes, and pretty good ones as far as I can tell. I had a regular 2 mile commute that I honed down over several weeks. TFL suggests exactly the same route!

Anyway, worth a try - and it may even give you a new commuting option.

(i've just started commuting the full distance to work, and I'm not actually using their route after the first day, but I will try it again)
