Anyone here ride the 5-boro yesterday? I was a bit worried about the gearing because of the hills on the BQE and the Verrazano Narrows bridge, but the 46/18 worked out quite nicely.
I'm sure there were more FG riders out there, but I counted less these are all I recall seeing:
A Black IRO in Astoria
Two riders on the S.I. Ferry with a Vigorelli and Pista Concept
1 orange Kilo TT (looked mostly stock) on Staten Island
Def. a fun ride. Would do it again.

I was there marshaling on the bridge b4 getting on the FDR, then got to ride once my shift was over. Run ride, saw a nice amount of fixed riders. I was at a 48/19 with 50mm tires working out to a 75gi. It was the rotational weight that was annoying, but still manageable on the hills.

I knew there had to be FGs on the ride. I guess I was just in a dead spot.
i was there on my jamis sputnik w/ chalked up rear wheel. i saw some fixed gears ridden by annoying hipsters.
it was brakeless with clipless pedals. the guy was wearing sneakers... talked about how his bike was so NJS.
then critiqued my record crank, that i was just buying the name....
we should get a group of ss/fg group next year.
i was there on my madison
with my girl riding a conversion schwinn sprint
group of friends were there that i didn't get to meet up with til the festival
some of them were riding fixed/ss as well

brakeless, and clipless with sneakers??
yup, thats how one of the guys bike was setup. doesnt make any sense does it. if i didnt leave my camera at home i would have taken a picture of the guy.
I was there too. Rode with with 48x17. Was worried too but it seemed okay considering I didn't have to get off once to walk for any hills.
I saw a few FG riders, a handful of SS riders, and two brakeless riders (i believe a black IRO and a silver Samson)
And now, some ride related (but not SS/FG specific) pictures:

not that i'm defending him, but I have some sneakers i cut to be clipless compatible. heavy as hell, but not too bad for walking around.
im not sure if he modded his shoes, but i didnt hear it click when we started riding. when we got to central park, i didnt hear it tap when he was walking. they were so obnoxious i didnt want to be around them any longer. another thing is that the hipster girls he was with were pretty hot. lol. why do they hang out around jerks like that?

Ha dude. I remember you. For some reason the mental note I have of you is your handlebars being tangled in the orange tape. I gave you a nod. Not like that makes me stand out. Thanks for the time towards the tour. I want to be a marshal for next years ride. The urge to fly will be hard to resist.

I was there, riding 46/17 on a mercy with several other friends with fixed setups. It was a perfect day for a long ride.
Saw one guy with no brakes and no foot retention and made it a point not to get directly in front of him on any downhill sections.
That girl on the pole was doing wicked barspinz, lol.

I think this year's ride makes like 3 years in a row I've seen Gyeswho at the ride, marshaling twice and riding once, and always at different spot. I took the roadie this year cuz it's annoying to watch everyone you passed going up the Verrazano zoom past you going down it. Saw a stack of track bikes near the ferry terminal w/ the riders nearby taking a smoke break.

Really? I thought they wouldn't allow you to fly down the bridge anyway?
I got yelled to slow down by a marshal coming down the Verrazano at 27mph. First year, didn't know.
