Wow I am sorry to see this thread just sitting here as an orphan.
That looks like a very nice century and a very good cause too.
I am doing the Davis Double that same day and so are a whole bunch of folks that frequent this forum. Too bad about the timing. I hope the ride has a good turn out and you have a great time.

Hi Smooooth, it's certainly been a while since the Tandem Rally.
Like LOS said, I hope some folks do this ride/cause with you guys.

I have done this ride twice before. It is in a beautiful part of the Bay area we don't normally ride. Well supported and lots of nice cyclists to chat with along the way.
We will be the ones on the tandem with Club Sport kits - Blue and White.
Look forward to our next BF ride.
Have a great weekend :D

Smooooth,
Do you have any idea of the usual turnout for this ride? My wife and I are signed up for the Sunrise Century in Lodi, but we're thinking of switching to this ride for a number of reasons. The I Care Classic is in our backyard (we live in Hollister) and had originally elected to do the Lodi ride just to do something a bit different, but the extra four hours of driving to/from Lodi isn't looking too inviting. Also, does anyone out there know the reroute through Hollister given that Hwy 25 is closed to bicycles? The website does have a note about a reroute, but the posted route is still last year's.
What we need to find on these rides is a really big guy on a single who is a) a slow climber b)19-21 mph on the flats. Alternatively, a slow tandem would do nicely, thank you.

If we make it by 6:15 at least we'll see a bunch of fast tandems take off in front of us! We may do the 100K since we ride on Fairview 3-4 times a week. BTW, be careful out there. The forecast is for windy. The reroute (I asked via e-mail) has the 100 milers using Frazier Lake Road in both directions. There is no shoulder and the cross wind will be bad. Fairview is a mixed bag of no shoulder/small shoulder; if you're on a tandem the stoker can soak up the views. Watch out for dead varmints on the shoulders.

Thanks for the heads up on wind and route. Have a great ride and say "HI" if you see us.

Sherrill and I did the ride - not a tandem in sight although I did see one car/suv with a tandem rack at the finish. 100 mi. course was cut short due to a power line down. I think we were at 72 or 73 miles . Weather was perfect although coming down the first part of Canada in light fog/mist the visibility through fogged glasses wasn't all that great. Honestly, the 100K is a nice ride, but the loop through Hollister doesn't do justice to some of the nice riding in my home town. For a small ride (400 or so) the organization was very good; lots of rest stops, reasonable vittles, friendly volunteers, etc. Course markings were well done - bright white/orange/yellow paint.

Sounds like another great day on the bike :thumb: I usually enjoy the first and last part of this ride the most. Riding through the Eastern hills is just beautiful. The event organization and support has always been very good.
Thanks for the report.
Catch up with you guys on one of these rides :D
