Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Shwinn cutter, SE draft, republic, or Skinny Benny?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Im just looking to get on a bike because all of my friends ride and Im tired of driving everywhere. I dont have a lot of money but Im willing to drop what I have on any of these models from 2010. Let me know what you think the best choice is. Thanks

If you absolutely have to, i guess SE draft.
but i'd really say save up some more cash and get something with better components. it'll just be more enjoyable

never heard of the skinny benny, but the other three are all Hi-Ten steel. I'd go for something that is 4130 if you can afford it over the hi-ten.

I have a Schwinn Cutter. The only thing I would have like to get would have been a flip/flop hub (it's ss only). It's a 2009 model. In 2010 they added the flip/flop so now it can be switched between FG and freewheel.

Are you kidding me?
Anyways, do you want to ride fixed or singlespeed (coasting)?

Go with a bikes direct (http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/trackbikes.htm) bike.
The Mercier Kilo TT is pretty popular.
If you want something cheaper look at the Motobecane Track.
I've got one and its pretty great.
yeah, i've seen a republic in person, and was NOT impressed. a friend's friend had the draft and it seemed to get the job done.
mercier kilo tt (bikesdirect) seems to be the go-to entry level bike for years on end, so i'd look into that...

you come in asking about the ****tiest complete bikes available, it of course is looking like you're just trying to fit in. Otherwise you'd be looking at finding a used one or saving up more money. cycling is expensive, skateboarding is probably cheaper if you're strapped for cash.

I want a bike because I think it's a utility that will end up being a lot more useful to a college student living in a small town than a car that costs $50 dollars a week and breaks down constantly. Because I want to be able to travel quickly/get in shape/ and ride along with my friends. Im not using it as some median to promote world hipster-******bag domination. Stop being such a presumptuous prick and try giving some actual advice. Both of you
