Europe - Bike rental in Genoa

I'll be there in mid-May, and I'd like to rent a bike for a day or two.

Any one know of a good place to rent a bike?

Sorry. I should have been clearer. Here's my itinerary:

København, Danmark -> München, Deutschland
München -> Genova, Italia

Plus return trip.

Why do the local residents say "Zürich", while for non-local Italians it is "Zurigo"?
? Genève - - > "Ginevra" in Italian?
? London - - > "Londra" in Italian?

More importantly, the divinely-given beautiful correct pronunciation for the two-wheeled vehicle we love to ride is:
"le vélo"

If Italian-speakers refuse to respect God's correct pronunciation there, why should contributors to this forum show any respect for Italian names for cities?

Sometimes there are bike rentals at the main train station of some European cities. I've had some very fun days of riding on heavy "utility" train-station bikes -- even though they're nothing like what I ride at home.

Maybe Genova/Genoa has city velos available? Of course, if you're aiming at riding any longer distances, city bikes are probably not what you're looking for. Anyways, their web site should have info if they have any kind of city bike system there.

Regarding city names, it is somewhat confusing when I'm going to München and the airline ticket says "Munich". It seems to help if the names are in an obscure language. I don't think anyone got it into their heads to try and modify Finnish names into "more convenient" English form, for example. We're a bilingual country, so most places and addresses have a Swedish name too. Sometimes the two language versions are very close to each other, and sometimes there's no apparent connection whatsoever.

Thanks for the suggestion, all. No luck so far. My plan was to ride to Novi Ligure to catch the end of stage 5 of the Giro, so a typical city bike won't really do. Maybe the hotel will come through for me; otherwise it's 70€ each way on Lufthansa to bring my bike.

Take the bike!! No better way to be assured you'll have a great set of wheels with you for any occasion/offer to ride that comes up.

I have two hard case travel boxes now ... best investment ever. If I costed it out - and insisted on renting a good bike on all the trips I've taken with these - I'm well ahead when I compare what I save in rental fees vs what I've paid for the case and the charges to bring it on the planes.

As a hard case it usually travels as a piece of luggage unless you are on a discount carrier - even then it is only 50 - 70 eur each way ... far less than renting a good road bike for a week.

Well, if the ash permits, I'll only have one day in Genova to ride around, so €140 + packing/unpacking twice to take my bike on the plane isn't really worth it. The trouble is that that is the day the Giro finishes in Novi Ligure, a mere 50km and some nice climbing from my hotel.

I have an Indian friend who married a Pole; I can't write it out of privacy concerns, of course, but there child has one heck of a name.

Or break down crying when I couldn't bring myself to pay 32 crowns at the Baresso for a cappuccino that is no where near as good as the several I got in Italy for 1€.

I heard all the bad about the citizen of my country, and really I agreed to everything... but I never read about the competition Italians Vs God. Surely I'll go to study the matter.
