Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Raleigh Chopper Mark III?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi, I don't know if C&V is the best place, but I feel it might be for this question.
Is there much of a value to a MarkIII?

Sturmey Achery 3 Speed
Twist shift
Looks all there, but dirty and rusty chrome.

Fair question, but better suited for the appraisal sub-forum - which is where this is getting moved to.

Great - thanks for the move.
Yours is the same as the picture? (Yours IS the picture?)
IMHO the whole repro muscle bike fad a couple years folded pretty badly. Local CL is flooded with repro stingrays (especially those horrible 'Orange County Choppers' ones) for low low prices. Add to that that the Choppers were never that big in America (altho I don't know about Canada), and honestly, you're lucky if you get $100 for a cleaned-up one in decent shape. However! This bike has some neat parts, for your parts bin or to sell for a little $. Apehangers, cleaned up, should be worth $15 or $20 on CL. Alloy stem and seatpost, cheapo 3-piece SS crank...Most of all, however, you have a 3-speed Sturmey laced into a 20". This is desirable for anyone upgrading an old folding bike. The front wheel might possibly of interest to those applications too. Dump the frame.
