I was gonna buy this off someone cause they're selling it for 70 bucks, but I just got the pic and it's a women's frame so i was thinking it might not be worth it. (I'm a girl, I just prefer men's frames much more, especially if I'm planning to resell it for profit I figured the worth goes down)
looks to be in good condition though, your thoughts?

That is probably at the top end of the price range of what it would sell for. You would have a hard time making any money on a flip.

thanks, yea I'm seeing them on craigslist for 60. I'll ask her to take it down to 50. Is it a bike worth riding as a commuter?
That's a real bottom end bike. Price is low as well, so its just a matter of what it is worth to you, and how much of a budget you have. The drop top bar bikes have minimal value. Mixte style are much preferred, and sell for quite a bit more.
In 1984, Schwinn improved the World Sport quite a bit, with an alloy crankset, better frame, etc. The bike above is before those improvements.
Personally, I would aim higher, but it depends on your budget. For a commuter on a budget, IMHO, its hard to beat a rigid frame MTB. Here's a 1994 Trek 950 I set up for my wife. Ignore the seat height, I raised it for a test ride by me. I think these bikes make fantastic commuters. They can easily handle fenders, racks, have excellent modern components, are light weight, and cheap right now.

a nice bike, that's for sure! I already ride a MTB as a commuter so i figured a roadie would be a nice change, but I dunno if I'd be happy riding a women's frame when I could pay a little more and get a higher end model.
Looks like the bike in the pic at least has been upgraded to alum. rims. I sold one of these, with similar alloy rims, new seat, and new bar tape/cables/etc for $150 this summer. But I certainly wouldn't pay $60 for it. Unless you live in NYC/Portland/SF.

Roadmaster MTB is not going to ride like a sweet Trek. Everything is better: wheels, brakes, cranks, derailleurs, shifters, etc. You will see more benefit from moving up to a LBS branded MTB, than buying a bottom end road bike.
