Hi, hoping some fellow Malaysians or anyone with the experience on this route can help out with some advice/tips ?
I've planned a ride end of June (so far only 2 persons for this little tour) from Ipoh to KL. We both hail from Perak but is based overseas......
The route is as below.
Day 1 : Ipoh - Cameron Highlands (Stop at Tanah Rata) ~96km, max elevation 1700m
Day 2 : Cameron Highlands - Kuala Kubu Bahru (Stop at KKB) ~144km
Day 3 : KKB - Frasers - Betong (Stop at Betong) ~95km, max elevation 1200m
Day 4 : Betong - Genting - KL ~95km, max elevation 1800m
As you can see the route planned such that, we hit the mountains early on in the ride (morning) and on those climbing days, the distance is kept to a minimum of ~90km.
Need help and advice below....
- anyone with experience with the route? or parts of it? thoughts?
- as this ride will be unassisted, any tips on what to bring, precautions, danger areas etc?
- I hear that Genting is closed of cyclists typically.....but there are certain times of the day that we can go right to the top of Genting....when and how?
