Tandem Cycling - Looking for decent tandem....

My girlfriend is 4'10, and I'm 5'5...Are there any tandems available for our size?

I"m also 5feet 5 inches and I built up a small Tsunami 26 offroad tandem as a road bike. You may be able to do something similiar.

My 8 year daughter is my stoker so I needed a really low frame.

If you are looking for used, they are out there. Possibly more common than the Jumbos some folks that are tall require. The middle of the road sizes you would think are most popular, but being popular they tend to be sold / bought more quickly.

If you go new, you shouldn't have a problem.

I sold a tandem to a couple who were about your size. It was a Burley Zydaco mixte.

The captain had extensive previous bicycling experience but the stoker, although she had tried, not-so-much. For years afterward everytime that I saw the stoker she thanked me for recommending and selling them that particular bike. I think it might have been the first time she had ridden on a bike that fit her.

Thanks for the input guys, well I was just thinking about it well my mom would love to get in the saddle.

Thing is, she doesn't have the courage to ride one. So what Im thinking is getting her and fiancee a Tandem. It'll give them time to go out and exercise together(plus she was talking about a tandem last year). I guess what do you think about this one? My moms about 5'2", and fiancee 5"8". They aren't hardcore riders, so honestly the components and and frame shouldn't really matter all that much as long as it fits them.

My wife and I aren't all that different in height and we found that a 23/21 Santana tandem actually worked quite well. It was probably a bit large in the front, according to the current "rules", but it was never a problem.

Now, with all that being said, the problem that might come up is not so much a question of size as a question of coordination. I won't go into details about this, just let me say that riding with an undisciplined stoker is frustrating.

A Cannondale in Medium/Small would work.

6' and 5'6", both with some biking expierence. We are looking for our first tandem (used) for rides longer than 100 miles (brevets). Burley Tosa '05 ($1800, rear disc break, Shimano 105) or Cannondale RT2000 '?? ($1200, Arai drum brakes)? Need to call for exact specs, Burley looks small and expensive, 'dale perfect fit but I guess 1997 and worked out. Any advice for newbies?
