AEROSPOKE!!!!! やあああああー!!!

Yes I know they are heavy, yes I know they are flexy, and yes I know they aren't actually carbon wheels.

But they fulfill many of my criteria.

1. Price (compared to true carbon wheels they are peanuts)

2. Style (kinda have the carbon look, just about pull it off, although HED 3 are the king)

3. Robustness (most important one here, carbon wheels are very prone to knocks, especially when in a public bike rack and people bang their bikes into your bike a lot. Plastic can take the knocks).

I am thinking of getting a black one with machined braking surface for the front of my fuji track comp and keeping the rear stock wheel, maybe in the future getting a black HplusSon rim built up for the back.

I will try to make a render of it to get an impression of what it'll look like, but for now go at it like a group of deranged baboons fighting over who can copulate with the corpse of the park ranger who just suffered a heart attack due to the fact he was being chased by said troupe of baboons!:D

Well, I downloaded GIMP and tried to do the render. This is my first time with GIMP and I was using a touchpad which sucks for graphics work (Yeah, yeah, I suck, stop with the excuses)

It's a passable pshop/gimp job, not bad at all. Hey knock yourself out if you wanna to do the areospoke, my buddy is riding a Spinergy Rev-X simply because the look of it gives him wood,. We've all wanted to do something strictly for aesthetics at some point. I'm riding to an auto chrome shop later to see if they'll be able to polish my new Steelwool 1/8 crank to a mirror.

My last bike (hated by many, loved by few) had 2 RevX's. They were great wheels and I loved them. But I always worried too much because other people are rough when parking bikes and I got a chip taken out of one of the blades. It was fine, but I didn't like to worry, which is why I have turned away from true carbon wheels.

 I have a hubless Rev-X I'm making into a lamp.

Man I bought an aerospoke after I broke my leg on an impulse buy. I love the way it looks and I really love how I don't have to worry ab my line so much bc you can pretty much dish out anything and the wheel will handle it, but you will get chalked up as a tarckster if you have one.

I've got the raw w machined lip, it's definitely the best color. Rear wheel is H+Son FF to Phil, similar to your idea Don.

I don't see the problem with them, if you want one, get one.

I also don't really get where people say they're flexy. I don't see it, even when I'm standing up to really mash or trackstanding. Not like the rev x's anyway, those things seems to bend w the wind.

My RevX's were the late model superstiff, one of the stiffest wheels ever.

Here is a sheldon brown wheel deflection chart (http://www.sheldonbrown.com/rinard/wheel/data.htm) that shows the relative flex of different wheels.

They only tested the old Aerospokes though so maybe the new ones are much better.

Thats similar to what I am thinking, but I might get the shiny black NMBS version so I don't get the silver band.

I need a yellow one to match my yellow Deep V and yellow bar tape. It'll look sick as hell when I get my mustache bars!

They sound pretty cool when you go fast. I saw a rear aerospoke at a crit and it made this rapid WOOSH WOOSH WOOSH sound that was pretty scary at 30mph

I always liked how they looked. Even before I was into bikes. When i was alittle kid and wanted a bmx bike... I thought the mag wheels looked sweet. I wish they weren't so pricy. I would get one. maybe.

Don, the painted aerospokes are glossy as hell. I usually have guys around here try and trade me, which I'll have no part in.

Not sure if they make a matte black or not. Regardless, you can add $75 to the $315 pricetag should you opt for painting.

Since when have my criteria not been a part of anyone's bike purchase decision? Normally weight it one of the top criteria too.

Lol what are your criteria then? I will take a guess what they might be:

1. Can I wedge cards between the spokes?

2. Can I use it as a beer opener?

3. Will it double as a frisbee?

HA! Hardly. My criteria for a wheel are as follows:

1. Can I put my weed in it?

2. Is it made of wood?

3. What kind of wood?
