Hello all! Fourth post. My limited cycling background consists of a couple of short triathlons in Texas a few years ago and then 18 months of using an ancient steel Schwinn cruiser for transportation in Philadelphia.

I've since moved to Oklahoma City and recently started road cycling again in preparation for two events this year:

1. the second half of Oklahoma Freewheel, June 16-19 (approx. 60 miles a day)
2. Redman Triathlon half-iron aquabike division (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike)

At this point you could fairly describe my road bike handling skills as "laughable," my endurance as "unfortunate," and my pace as "blisteringly slow." But I am enjoying being back in the saddle and am comforted by the fact that Freewheel will have rest stops every 10 miles. I learn the most from the patient people on my training rides, but expect I'll learn plenty here too.

Welcome to Bike Forums!

Have you found the Triathlon forum yet?

What kind of bike do you have?

Thanks for the welcome CbadRider.

I'm riding a Schwinn Fastback, an affordable road bike. It has a triple crank, and believe me I used every gear of that blessed thing on my ride today.
