Recently was reading the topic "It's finally finished!" and saw someone commenting saying they appreciated the period correct-ish Fixies.

I wanted to say I also Recently 'Finished' my fixie.

I bought an Old Soma Sport 10-Speed. Not sure of the year of manufacture, but it's pretty old.

Initially, I simply stripped the bike of non essential parts, and used the old wheels and old cassette, and chose the best chainline for the bike and rode it as a single speed.

But recently I acquired a set of Soma Fab Somax wheels and a dura-ace fixed cog and turned it into a true fixed gear bike.

Currently, It still has both brakes, as I am still a fixed newbie, and I still might swap to the freewheel every once in a while, but the plan is to strip the rear brake and the old levers off and put on a single cross lever in the flats for the front brake.

Here it is!

Took it on my first significant fixed gear ride today (about 15 to 20 miles or so) and it was a blast, really liking it. Took some pictures to send to soma, and then stripped the wheel stickers off after the pics.

Lemme know what you think!

The soma wheels I got on Sale for 200 bucks, which was a somewhat special deal too since I know the LBS guys. On their website they were selling for 269 as a set. Thats with the Flanged Fixed/Fixed hub.

You weren't supposed to notice the reflector mount! :-P

Yes, that is a reflector mount without the reflector.

It was cracked when I bought the bike, I meant to get a different brake hanger to replacce the mount, but Never got around to it. If I decide to go fixed full-time, I might remove the levers and put a single cross lever on for the front and remove the Mount then.

It looks like it also doubles as the break cable stop for those center pull breaks, and probably also the headset washer, so it has to stay or be replaced with another compatible component.

Nice looking bike!

That is exactly it, the Brake cable stop is right on that mount. I have debated sawing the extra off, but it would be less headache to just replace it when and if I decide to change the brakes up.

yea well I was just wondering why the OP didn't just throw out the mount and get a cable stop separately, but he answered that question already.
