Hi there,

My friend brought me over a road bike from France, but we are unsure what make and model it is.

Most of the shimano parts date to around the late 80's.

Looks like new paint job with "A.Bouquet" which the seller said was the name of the local bike shop.

Under the down tube near the head tube are the letters BCM.

Anyone help out or have any comments?

Thanks

Jimmy

That was close on the bike shop name...

The brand name (as you see on the fork) is Geliano. That was a brand made by Jean-Marie Duret and sold in his store Cycles Duret in Argent-sur-Sauldre in France. Geliano bikes had "Geliano" decals.

Nice find!

The BCM you see is the lug maker's mark.... Bocama lugs. The other numbers stamped on the lugs i suspect are the angles??

Not that i am planning on selling but do Geliano frames have much value these days?

Also would the chrome back end be quite rare?

Pretty common on higher end bikes. My Colnago has chrome stays. And my Japanese Lotus has chrome stays as well.

Anyway of telling what the frame would be made from?

Vitus 788 the same as the forks?

Also anyway of telling what year?

An interesting (and very nice!) find.

I've got a Geliano - (I've never seen another here in the UK). The forks on my bike are very similar, though mine don't say 'Geliano'.
