Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - inexpensive yet stronger replacement for alexrims da22s

So it's time to replace the rims on my cypress, they were pretty much ****ed since I got the bike, but now they won't hold true at all, so I'm looking for some replacement rims, I'm also probablly going to be picking up a second identical formula/alex da22 wheelset because the deal is too good to pass up. but I'm thinking of replacing them with something stronger, does anyone have any suggestions on a stronger yet inexpensive rims that I could replace them with, I was thinking maybe alex da28s, I don't want weinmanns, and velocity deep Vs are probablly a little more then I want to spend, I'm in school right now so money is tight.

if you don't mind slightly wider, Sun CR-18
for relatively cheap, yet similar width... sun venus, Swift SL1, Velocity fusion, cxp-33.

wider probablly isn't a good idea, the bike has very tight clearences, I run a 20c tire in the front, 23c won't fit in the fork, and a 23c in the rear, I'm guesing the max that would fit in the rear would be a 25c. But I'll look into the others you mentioned. I also might just run the DA22s from the other wheels that I'm probablly going to be picking up, assuming that I do get them, until they go wonkey too

Sun M-13s FTW. They're very similar to CR-18s but narrower. I've got them on my PB and 100% love them.

THAT is an amazingly good deal! But.... those rear hubs don't seem to have track lockring threads. Not that I would mind - I'd just rotafixa the cog with red loctite, and add a BB lockring. But that would hurt Carleton's sensibilities.

I've got a cypress track bike, it's a locally designed frame http://www.gwbicycle.com/GWBicycle/track.htm it seems to be quite rare, there's only 2 of them on velospace, one of which is mine

I guess it's a little on the harsh side, though I don't have too many good comparisons for the ride feel. mostly I've been using it for short jaunts, though I took it out for a longer ride yesterday of a few miles, the first long ride I've been on in a while, and I was really impressed by how much fun it was, the bike felt super quick and responsive and lots of fun to ride, I felt confident, but not over confident, in traffic and passed a few slower cyclists. now I just need to work on my trackstands.

and AEO I'd certainly consider tubulars, but just not sure that they would be at all cost effective with the abuse of street riding and skidding. I would like to take it to the velodrome sometime, but between my new busy schedule as a student and the fact that I moved to further away from the Burnaby velodrome, I'd have to take a ferry to get there now. It's not likely to happen anytime soon, unless there is an outdoor velodrome somewhere in Victoria, I suppose I should check and see if there is one.

^^If your "longer ride" is a few miles, then you don't need to worry about your sit-bones too much.
