Hello all! This is my first post ever on these wonderful forums. To start it off, I am a complete and utter newb when it comes to bikes. I am however willing to learn!
Yesterday, I bought a brand new Schwinn Trailway. It's a 700c hybrid bike that has Promax alloy linear pull brakes and Shimano 21-speed shifters (more info may be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Men-92s-Schwinn-700C-Trail-Hybrid/dp/B000KZ1G7Q).
I have been reading around searching for a solution but am really unsure about what approach to take to fix my bike.

I have yet to ride it as I discovered that the brakes were not adjusted properly. The Non-drive side (fancy lingo ey? :)) brake caliper arm seems to not be adjusted properly. It hit's the tire when it is applied and does not spring back into a proper resting position. Instead, it just sits there rubbing the tire and wreaking havoc along the way. When the brake is applied, if I hold the drive side brake caliper arm in place, the non-drive side brake caliper arm does spring back into a proper resting position.
I've read about a multitude of problems that it may be but none seem to fit it specifically.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
