Charity Events - What's the most you ever raised?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Curious how much people have personally raised in a bike charity event.

$835 so far for Tour de Cure this year. I haven't checked my donation boxes around town for a week, and I've got one last majour fundraising push which might come through and net a significant amount... hopefully it works.

I raised $3000 - took 7 months and 41 donors and was hard work. One of the guys I am riding with has raised $17,000 + with 46 donors. We are doing a double metric Century in June to raise money for Cancer.

A hair over 6K. Companies that match $ are the key!

I'm stuck at $585 right now for Tour de Cure. Thursday afternoon I meet with the president of the corp... he's promised to twist some executive arms to get involvement, so that should turn into either team members or donors. Hopefully that will have significant results.
All of the businesses I've tried allow me to put up a flier, but not donation cans and no direct donations. Nothing has come of that.
For those of you that have had big success, what are the keys? I'm in a town of about 50k people, so that's probably a significant factor.

I raised something like $7,500 last year on the Ride to Conquer Cancer after emailing everyone I knew and begging. I also posted it on Facebook, and got extra gifts that way.
But it was raising money for the hospital where I had my cancer treatment the year before -- a cause that was quite literally very close to my heart. This year I've raised something like $2,700. Maybe it's the recession, maybe the fact that I'm further from the treatment, so people don't quite feel the need to give.
It was an awesome ride though. Looking forward to doing it again.
$18,000 + last year for three charity events.
$5700 this year for two events.
I am taking a break from all charity work next year and will give my sponsors a chance to recover.

A friend and I raised $5,900 for the Hershey's Tour de Pink last year. This ride benefis a charity for women under 35 with breast cancer. He and I (plus a third who is joining us) are just starting to raise funds for this year's ride, with a goal of $12,500.
