Today I was pedaling along on my Bianchi Strada 27 speed. I felt sort of a slight grinding vibration, and a few strokes later, I lost power. Chain still spins and cogs spin but no power. I got off and it seemed to fix for a bit, then it began to slip again. Any ideas?

Sounds like the ratchet pawls are either broken, or more likely withdrawn and not springing back to engage. the cause could be anything from dirt, thick dried grease, rust, or on some types a broken pawl spring.

Depending on the rear hub, you're looking at a field strip and inspection, then either a clean, lube & rebuild, or a new freehub body.

I think it is the rear hub,,, but cant be 100% sure without seeing the problem in real time...Take it to the LBS.

Agreed. The best result would be that the grease has gotten sticky and the pawls are jammed. Some light oil run through the cassette body will free that up. It's a job for a good mechanic.
