I am planning to swap out the stock pedals, clips, and straps from my Mercier Kilo TT. I was looking at the Origin 8 Pro Track Light Pedals, MKS Sylvan Pedals, and Soma Hellyer Track Pedal. I will probably take the Soma's off the list because they run for around $60, while the other two runs under $30. I'm pretty sure that the MKS Sylvan's will work with double leather straps. However, I like how the Origin 8 has FULL black(not half chrome and half black like the MKS). But it doesn't seem like the Origin 8 pedals work with double straps? But I am pretty sure the MKS do. What do you guys think? Origin 8 or MKS.

MKS Sylvan for sure, but the little tabs on them are a bit small.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the MKS Sylvans DO work with double straps right?

I use the MKS Sylvan's
I love them.
comfortable, affordable, light, easy to get your foot into.
I agree that they do run small though
but thats no problem for me.
Ohh & I run double straps on them.

Get the Sylvans.

Sylvians are the best, but uncomfortable if your shoes have thin soles. But even with that. they are the best.
But then there are clipless pedals as adrino pointed out, which **** all over any clip and strap system.
sylvans +1
double straps...

I'll probably get the MKS since a lot of people have them and like it. But I have a question about toe clips. What kind of clips do you guys use? I'm looking for the four gate toe clips that are meant for double straps. It is like the Soma Oppy XX. Origin 8 makes them but thhey do not have sizes. It just says large an I wear MENS US size 9. So I don't know if it'll fit. And I might get the Soma Oppy XX if I can't find any other ones =\

I'm a size 10 and I've used large size Soma Oppy Fourgates with no issue. Generally you should just go with the larger size, considering the variability in shoes you wear. Just cinch the straps down tighter if you're wearing slimmer shoes.

I use the MKS Sylvan Pedals, paired with the MKS Steel Toe Clips. I wear a size 11 shoe and use the large toe clips and they work perfectly. I also run double leather toe straps with this set up. No need to buy a pair a of toe clips that are specially made for double straps.

Unless your feet are absolutely huge or you ride with really bulky shoes, large clips should be just fine. I wear size 12 Vans and mine are perfect.

Same setup I currently have except I've got silver Royal Nuevos and plastic double clips. Next best thing is my Look Keo Classics. :)

I use the large Soma Oppy XX clips and they're perfect with my size 9/9.5 feet.

I have the Sylvan Lite's, and love them - I'm surprised they don't get more attention here. They're comfy, tough, a nice price, and a good size IMO.

These are great! But can be a hassle if you've got larger feet or are wearing larger shoes. I remember riding behind my friend who has silver GR-9s and his feet literally dwarfed the things. They covered about 2/3rds of his shoe. It didn't look terribly comfortable.

I'm just afraid that size large clips will be too big since I wear size 9.

+1 for GR-9s
my only beef is they need to be a little bigger, or my feet need to be smaller. They are super easy to get into, even after riding only clipless for a long time.
+100 for clipless

I got the sylvans when I was upgrading my pedals and I hated them. I'm a size 13 so my feet were way to big for them. The problem with hotfoot is apparent after only a mile. I couldn't skid with them at all.
I ended up going clipless and never put them back on except for when I was learning to trackstand.

+1 on the GR-9's!! I have them on 2 bikes and for clips and straps, they are my favorite.

Sylvan Lites seem to be a little bigger than GR-9s. Is this true?

Only slightly. Rear cages dig into your sneakers. It's awesome for clip cleats as, the rear cage automatically dig into your clip-cleats as you slip on. It's prolly designed that way. Very clever. But contact surface is very small because the region near axle is receded. Probably designed that way assuming I would be wearing cleats for it. :(
