Road Cycling - Fender mounts on Seven Alaris

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have just ordered an Alaris frame from Seven. I am curios to know what the fender mounts look like and whether or not they detract from the beauty of the frame. I have no intention of riding this bike in the rain. However, as the years go by I might use this bike for some light touring. I do live in the Pacific North West so we do get a lot of rain. If the fender mounts are not a good idea are there other ways of installing fenders without them. Thanks

Congratulations on your new ride! Post some pics when your take delivery...Personally, I always thought fender/rack mounts detracted from lines of the frame - especially if you are going to do this only sporadically. Before you do this, take a look at some the common bike catalog suppliers, or just Google it and take a look. Blackburn and SKS both make fenders that don't require any mounting hardware. Also, Jandd makes stainless clamps for mounting racks without braze points for their racks that hold 25-40 lbs.
Ultimately, it's your ride so...
Have a great ride and don't look back!

I just got a Seven Verve (the mountain bike) and I went with the rack mounts, fender mounts, and chain hanger. I probably will never use them, but since the bike is suppose to last forever, you never now what you'll use it for down the road. And now that I've got it, they aren't that noticable just glancing at the bike. Obviously if you have someone totally checking out your bike and they know what to look for they'll see them and may or may not comment on them. But in the end, it's your bike, so you should get what you want on it and not be concerned what other people will think about your bike.
I may never use a rack mount on a XC mountain bike, but I love having the option in case I want to do a multiday trip offroad. Plus I just found out I might be moving to Europe, so I may end up using it for commuting.
I also plan to buy an Alaris someday... I'll be going with the full options on that as well... including the pump peg.
If I were buying it as a race bike, then I'd probably not get any of the options. But I'm not a racer, and I can envision using all the options, so why not get them?
Plus... down the road if you want them, you'll be kicking yourself if you didn't get them. Not to mention, putting fenders on a bike that doesn't have the mounts is a HUGE pain in the butt.
