Does anyone have suggestions for a cooldown after a ride? When I finish running I cool down by walking, but when biking, I find it harder to cool down. My average speed when riding is about 17 mph. If I ride slower than that in an attempt to cool down, I find it difficult to maintain a constant speed or ride in a straight line.
Thanks!

Not very. Today was ride #2 and it was just under 15 miles.

Takes me that far to get warmed up.
My average ride is 70 miles.
I have never tried to cool down.
Just stay with it and have fun.
My warm up is ~5 miles. Cool down as I end the ride is just riding slower with less effort for 2-3 miles.

Go in the house, sit in front of the fan, drip sweat for a while, take a shower when you get cooled off. I suppose the ideal solution would be a nearby lake, but I don't have one with a beach area.

For the last half mile of the ride, slow down and keep your feet moving around with the pedals, without putting force into them. The movement will keep the blood flowing through the muscles and flush out the exercise residue that causes the aches.

One option is to walk, just as you did after running.
