SO, I have been trying out new Triathlon bikes, and was looking in the 2-3k range. I was at a shop that had a TTX, which is one of the bikes that I had left to try, but it was a 9.9 SSL, and I was considering a 9.0. But the guys in the shop encouraged me to hop on this bike and give it a try. So I did, and it was a fun ride, although I found the steering a bit twitchy (might take it on a longer ride Monday with a longer stem to see if that helps at all). Any how, it is a 2010, in that Halloween theme that Trek did it in, which I don't know if I like all that much, but any how, I have one question, the MSRP is in the neighborhood of $7,100, but they offered it to me at $5,600. Is this a normal drop for these high end bikes off of MSRP? I know that shops usually sell bikes under MSRP, but I figured 7k would be a normal drop.

What say you BF?

Well with the Speed Concept days from being released to the public the TTX is soon going to look like old hat. If it were a Cervelo P4, yeah you might get them down 10%.

Then maybe what I need to do is waitAnd get a 9. 0 after the speed is released... I am OK with the old hat bike

I think the TTX9.9 from the 9.0 is a big upsale. The only warning I'll give you is that I've heard Trek isn't taking orders for TTXs anymore, whats at your dealer is what they're going to get. That means if there isn't a 9.0 there, you might not be able to get one, let alone swing a deal on one.

The TTX is a good bike.

not really an upsale, my girlfriend told the owner I was looking for a tri bike, he said he had one in the store, pointed in its direction, and I asked if I could take it for a spin. I never said what my price range was, or what I was looking for. Do you happen to know the date when the speed will hit the shelves?
