Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - what are some brands to look out for when i buy parts for my bike?

like frame, crankset, bottom bracket,handle bars forks, stems wheel set, pedals.

This is really a question that's a bit too difficult to answer. Visit some shops, both local and online, and get an idea of what's out there first. Then, when you find yourself interested in something, post a new thread about it. But please ask more specific questions, like, how heavy is this part, how stiff is that part, is this a good price, etc. Then you'll get real answers.

Just do it! It's all about personal style. Build whatever you think is best for you. If somebody else doesn't like it - too bad.

One other thing you didn't mention - budget. It's better to have a bike that you can ride, even though it might have some not-too-cool parts, than it is to talk about the great bike you're going to build someday.

You can always do what this forum is famous for: ask us "is the crankset any good?" "what's a good wheelset that is also really cheap?" "where can I find purple spoke nipples?" "what's a good track frame for $100?"

adequate brands = origin8, soma, eighthinch,
questionable = ebay companies

they have an array of mediocre parts, some really good, some not so good. Point is, if you're trying to build something up, chances are they will have something that works for a good price

Buy what feels right. By that I mean what actually feels physically better to ride for you. What might feel good for one person might not feel good for you. Like some like the feel of steel. Some like carbon.....

As for what looks good...that's all you.

...and if you do build your dream bike, don't be afraid to ride the hell out of. Sure, it might get beat up, sure it might even get stolen (bike-stealing bastids!) - but it gets loved in a much more real way.
