Hello everyone... I just started biking this summer... My next door neighbor was having a garage sale and had an old schwinn roadbike for sale... I fell in love with it and initially started riding around town... I was a little wobbly at first... then, well.... my daughter backed up into it and RAN OVER IT!! So... my boyfriend thought he would do me a favor and found an old Walmart special at a bike shop... it was one of those mountain bike types... was bad news.... I rode it faithfully on bike paths etc... however, that's when I knew I wanted a roadbike... so I ended up getting my first roadbike... a trek 1000 and now I am riding about 20 or so miles a day... I so far am truly enjoying it... and will probably move up to a better bike after awhile..... so hello everyone....

Perhaps you should get a Trek carbon frame - I understand these have been known to withstand being run over!! ;)

Welcome to the forums. I have a Trek 1000 that is about 13 years old. Long ago I commuted on it. It was a decent bike. I just switched to a recumbent this spring after finding the road bike too uncomfortable to spend much time on. I think you will enjoy your Trek, I know I put many miles on mine.
