1) State your budget. $350-500

2) Do your homework.
REDLINE PROLINE CRUISER 2009
Haro Pro Race 24 BMX Bike '10

3)Don't buy an aluminum bike for tricks.
I do do some tricks, nothing amazing and I do want to start going to gate practice soon

Any other suggestions

How about a DK Sentry 24" $279.99? Only 0.2 pounds heavier then the Proline Pro 24 $489.00. If you want a chromoly frame, the DK Cygnus $289.99, is another choice, just add on 2 more pounds, it's 27.3. If you want a Redline, the T&T MX24 is the same weight as the Proline and only $339.00

Just noticed the Proline you listed was an '09, all the prices and weights I used are '10s.

I want to get one with a cog in the back versus a freewheel. And I am kinda partial to the 6061 frames. But if the weight is close than all is good.

It has Landing Gear forks. They are run by many racers here and considered a great fork. I can tell you as an SE dealer, we have never had a problem with any of them.

My friend who is also an SE dealer is having a ton of trouble with SE. This may have all been rectified since but he was having trouble getting one of their forks warrantied after it bent like crazy, and somehow it bent forwards. Seriously, the forks were messed up. And yes the landing gear forks have a good rep, but my friends assumption, and I don't know if this is true, is that the forks on the socal may have landing gear written on them but they aren't the same quality as the landing gear forks sold after-market.
Either way, having seen the bike in question I would hesitate to buy one, and after my friend had to replace the fork, on his shops dime, with a redline fork I don't have much faith in SE. I mean, seriously, you should have seen this bike, the forks were bent in a way that I can't imagine how it happened. If I built a bike and that happened I would refund the customer and beg him not to tell anyone about it. That's how ridiculous the bend was.
