My name is Brian. I started riding about two years ago after a 35 year lapse. My son and I started riding to get his cycling merit badge in Boy Scouts. We recently joined a group of riders who and we are training for our first century in August.

Welcome! I agree riding with kids is GREAT family time. I am typing this as I wait for my slaves....'er....daughters to fill water bottles for our ride. Youngest is only 10, but she does 20 miles with me, with hills, on her little Trek Mtn bike. LOVE riding with them.

Where is the century you guys will do? I have relatives in Fresno and waterski at Pine Flat every summer. I know Fresno is the brunt of a lot of jokes, but it's a nice area. Flat if you want it, mountains if you want them....very cool. Have fun!

I have four kids, 1 boy oldest, Scouts also: Star working on life, working on the 50 mile bike ride also, already
done the 50 mile canoe trip, 2 days. Last weekend me and the two youngest girls, ages 7 and 9 took a 10
mile road trip with another 3 miles of hard packed trails, packed lunch, they did not want come back, teenage
daughter fastest long distance runner in here grade, but can not beat old dad at the 2 mile bike sprint,(Laugh)..
but I could not beat her in a race across the front yard on foot. It's something to see your 7 year old pound out 13 miles
of riding and want to go more...as I am typing this, my son, and oldest daughter were headed out for a 20 mile
ride with me, half trail and road, thunderstorm canceled that... oh my daughter was reading over my shoulder
and reminded me she beat me once, I was coasting the last couple hundred yards and she pasted me with maybe 20 yards to go, Quote: Dad never let your guard down...(laugh)..she did win, Great Family Sport...

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! xoxoxoxoLive, keep your scout going! Working on Life is great! That 50 mile canoe trip sounds awesome! My son is 19 and we are roadies, training with a local group Team Young Life. We are at the 35 mile mark in our training and this last weekend I out rode my son since he was at home with the flu. Team Young Life is training for the Cool Breeze century in Ventura in August. After that my immediate plan will be the 50+pie ride in September. Sometime I'd like to get a bike for my daughter. My wife has an aversion to wheels unless the number is 4.
