Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

does anyone use tubless tires for just recreational road cycling? If so, why do you prefer them over 'tubed' tires.

I dont thick anyone uses them because the turn recreational riding into severe punishment riding.
I didn't know they HAD tubeless tires for bicycles. :-/
I have tubeless tires on my MTB. I once used the MTB for my commute, when the RB was out of service. AndrewP is right. It was punishment. Anyhow, I will not again use tubeless tires after these ones wear out. These ones I've got are foldable, kevlar-bead types. They're heavier than their tube-requiring cousins. Tubeless tires also require powerful air-compressors to inflate when the bead comes off the rim. So far I have been lucky not to have had any flats yet while riding the MTB, trail or pavement. I carry with me a few CO2 cartridges, just in case, but I have yet to find out if it will do the job.
