Bicycle Mechanics - System of Lights with dynamo (BELL) in a MTB... Do problems exist?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hello to all! :)
Very recently I bought myself a Mountain Bike and, although I don't seek to walk much at night, I have planned to install him a system of lights (for if I am surprised darkness in the turn itinerary to house).
I have done in a store a system of lights with dynamo (how I had in my boy bicycle) of the manufacturing BELL; http://img77.exs.cx/img77/4748/BELLBikeGeneratorLigthSystem.jpg

but they have told me that problems exist with the system with dynamo in a Mountain Bike (with the tire and brake, back ). What is there of certain in that?

I have tried to find a page of support of products of BELL, to ask them if that product was designed for Mountain Bike, but I have not been lucky. :(

I will thank any suggestion and/or help in this respect.

Greetings, Mario :)

The only problem I can think of is the dynamo can't roll against the shoulder of the tire as it does on road bikes, due to the MTB's knobby tread pattern. All you would need to do is mount the dynamo in such a way that when engaged, it rolls against the smooth sidewall.

I assume that its a rigid bike!!

You are right, I had thought of that, but I wonder if the lateral wall of the tire will resist the pressure of the dynamo without deteriorating prematurely.
Maybe a solution would be to look for a tire of MTB that has a special drawing in its rolling band or a special lateral reinforcement as to support such a situation better.

On the other hand, a cyclist that had one of these systems BELL noticed me that the power of the front focus is really insufficient to light the road well (mainly where not exite lit public) and help only has to allow to be seen. :( I imagine that systems of 12V still exist (BELL only uses 6V) that they have high light and it lowers in the front focus and of more power of illumination. Will there be who can suggest a mark and model?

Greetings friends and continue pedaling! http://img40.exs.cx/img40/6409/bike6.gif

I ran one of these for a while on my 3 speed when I was a kid. I could wear out the tire in a couple of weeks. They work best if the bike has a special rim that is designed to drive the generator.
