I plan on a IM next year and looking to upgrade my bike. I have found a Cervelo 2004 P3 61cm for $1100 shipped. The guy is liquidating, is this a good deal or better yet is this the bike I need for the distance? I am 6" 4" about 187lbs. Thanks... I appreciate any help
Another ??? If this bike comes how much would it cost to assemble?? or is it basically assembled. Again Thanks

That sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me. Has it been crashed and dented? New P3s run about $3500! You may want to make sure that this has not been scavenged for parts. If the bike is coming in a bike box, just take it to your LBS and they will reassemble it for somewhere between $50 and $100.
I don't know if this bike would be great for an IM. That is a heck of a long way on a very stiff bike. I'd more research or even call Cervelo. Most bike companies are terribly helpful when discussing their products.

Umm, I am betting that's just a frameset for $1100. Even so, it's a sweet deal because list price for just the frameset is ~$2K.
Lot of folks ride P3's for IM. But I can't tell you whether it's the right bike for you to ride IM.

Thanks for your input Fatbomber and Gonzo Bob....I am in a quandry, I guess the worse that could happen is that it does not work-out and I have learned another important lesson in life. There is no such thing as a free lunch.....AGAIN. You would think at 57 I would become wiser. Thanks again
PS I have not heard back from him, so it might be a good thing

If I may just throw my 2 pennies at this... If you "found" this bike at eBay, be warned that there's some schmuckatelli who is from Europe, of course, running a scam about this 2003 P3. I'd been looking for a bike for the better part of three months and ran through every tip, and link, and thread on the internet looking for a bike. I finally discovered that the best way for me to get a bike that fits me; I'm 6'4 225, is to go buy a bike and get set up on it.
[SHAMELESS PLUG]I bought a Felt S22, and can you say da bomb?? It's so much more bike than I am right now, it's not even funny. I realised how fast it was when I saw 40mph on the computer going downhill. [/SHAMELESS PLUG] So my two pennies is go get a bike that you KNOW will fit your size.

Thanks, I asked this guy to call me (if it is the same one) we will wait and see. I notice that he also has advertised a Cervelo P2K also on ebay. He says he will ship etc complete new P3 for $1,100 but kind of strange when I noticed the bidding went up to $1500 and it said (reserve not met). Wierd, he says he is liquidating and has my size a 61cm. I guess I will wait to see if he calls. I suppose using my credit card I would be protected if the deal goes down. Appreciate your input and word of caution, I guess I will know if it is him if he has a European accent. Thanks Again
