Just bought a Novara Randonee. I'm quite surprised by how much I got for the money. I looked at the Trek 520 ($1279) the Surly LHT ($1179), both at my LBS. I also looked at the Fuji Touring ($859) at the Performance store in Portland, OR while on a trip. then i bought the REI bike, ($999)but with the annual dividend plus an addtional 5% back because I charged it on my REI visa, I'll wind up with a bike speced as good and in some cases better than any of the above bikes for $850. Seemed like a no-brainer to me. By the way, the bike rides much nicer than the Fuji for me. I didn't ride the other two because they seemed a bit too expensive.
