I have seen reference to duplicate gears on bikes. How do you calculate the gear size?

Thanks.

not sure how this works in metric
but for americans
CG = Crank Gear
RG = Rear freewheel/cassette Gear
WS = Wheel Size

(CG/RG) x WS = Gear Size
example:
(39/14) x 27" =75
