Touring - Anyone else see the new REI catalog?

So yesterday night I go ahead and buy Ortlieb back-rollers.... I thought I got a good deal at only $139 for the pair, then I get the REI catalog today and see them for $119. Dang! And that would have made next years dividend bigger....ahhhhh!

Probikekit (http://www.probikekit.com/display.php?code=B0031) has them for $104.65 before USA10 for another 10% off with free shipping.... What's that $90 ish?

The problems is that those panniers are on sale and you don't get a dividend on sale items :twitchy:

And just so ya know... When I bought mine years ago from REI I paid something like $160. After I buy something I just move on with no regrets. As many miles as they have traveled it was money well spent.

The 20% off only applies to full price items.

They might cut you the difference. Many stores will do so if you bring in your receipt, since you could just return them, and just buy them again at sale price. I have no idea if REI does this but it might be worth checking it out...

living in ireland as i do,would it be worth me joining rei seems theres great bargains to be got every now and again but with postage cost's would it be worth it.

Unlikely. Customs is a right royal pain in the ass. For us Americans, buying from REI makes sense as they're "local". For a long time they were one of the only hiking outfitters who would mail order to the boonies... and the US has an awful lotta places out in the boonies.

There's gotta be *someone* in the EU who sells outdoor and bike gear and will ship to Ireland.

REI has a 30-day policy were they will refund the difference if an item you bought goes on sale within 30-days from purchase date. If you are a little over however, they are usually pretty flexible since they are one of the few stores with a 100% return policy since you could just return the item and rebuy it at the better price. If $139 is the full price and there is a 20% off coupon, I'd go back and ask if I could get the 20% taken off.

Becareful about putting these on the front as they can hang too low. I was touring with someone last year and they had them on the front, they got to close to a curb in a tunnel and wiped out. Not a good scene.
I have the Front Roller Classics and the Ultimate Handle Bar bag, I will add the Back Rollers Next Month.
