Trackstar in NYC (track-only bike store) was robbed last night of their most expensive inventory along with my bike. :(
they say they can have another one built for me this afternoon, but if you see a IRO Mark V with red cork tape, inline brake lever+front sora brake, and nitto drops on Craigslist, track the f***er down and cannibalize him/her.

Great...love to see the kids just skipped over those internet directions for stealing bikes off the street and went directly to the bike shop...WTF?!

Ouch, that sucks. Was it a break in or a put-your-hands-up robbery?? Do they have insurance? Sucks for something like that to happen to a new business like that. I hope they'll survive...

they broke or picked the lock on the gate and did the same to the door. as far as i know trackstar has insurance. still, i'm sure it'll be an absolute pain in the a$$ for them to deal with.

The bike shops around here have studs welded to the building and their most expensive bikes they lock to it with kryptonite chains, even in the store.
It's ironic that the kryptonite chain and locks are probably stronger than the locks used to lock up the shop.

Wow I was just there a month ago and they was fixing up the place. I didn't get a chance to see what they had in the store since they we're painting. That is jacked up.

I hope to visit it again hope. Hope they will have it up and good security. The neighborhood is very close (i lived down there along time ago). Somebody had to seen something especially with the park being down the street.

Hopefully you will be able to ride again and them finding who rob them..

I have never posted anything on this forum before, but amazingly enough....
.....Someone actually tried to sell me some of the items that were stolen from our shop in September. We recovered them from the office of an to-be-unnamed courier company in New York. A custom-built pink Spicer frame and an employee's racing wheel set (new campy c-record hubs on Mavic cxp-30's) where all that we got back. There are still a few thousand $$$'s worth of things floating around New York, including a bundle of high flange dura-ace, phil wood and miche hubs; TA and Dura Ace cranks; reload bags; a couple of black velocity wheelsets; more frames and random small parts like campy and sugino BB's and seatposts. If anyone can provide further info, please let us know.

well
I sure hope your shop is/was able to recoup losses via Insurance w/out them rasing fees and raping a small, indy biz.

Bike theft is the only reason I have renter's insurance.

good luck recovering and I hope you get 'em,...its a rather small community in some ways when you think about it, and word gets around. Certainly doesn't sound like a random thing.

Same here. That and the wife's jewelry.

Back on topic:

Kinda sad that the same kind of guys that need shops like yours in order to do their jobs are probably the one's that robbed it. What if the robbery put you out of business? Seems kind of self defeating to me.
