Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - Search ? Tom or Somebody HELP!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Today I noticed the search feature doing something funky. When I type into the search blank, nothing happens but the cursor moves over. Then when I click, search, the words I typed show up and then it searches. When the search is completed, each response shows up in approx 4" blocks. What gives and how do I correct?

No idea. I'll pass it along, though, to the correct people.

I just tried to replicate it, by the way, and I get normal actions and normal return of results. Is it still happening for you?

Thanks for your quick reply. Yep, it is still doing it. No matter what forum I'm on, if I click on search, and type anything, the cursor moves and no letters show in the search box. Then if I click on the word, search, the search opens with each reply taking up the whole sheet across and 3" down the page.
I must have done it since you are not having the problem.
Got any ideas?
Thanks and glad you are doing better.

I found out what I did. Under tools on my bar, I clicked on "compatability view" to help the forum load faster. It did, but it also changed the way the search feature functions. Just recently the forum started loading very slowly. I read where others (few) started having the same problem at the same time as me. Some changed to google chrome but I don't know what that is or how it will affect my laptop. My other forums that I visit are behaving the same way they always have with no change. Just this one. Any ideas on why this happened and what I can do on my end?
Thanks,

Google Chrome is a modern W3C compliant browser that is free and out from Google. The only affect it will have on your laptop is to speed up your browsing over Internet Explorer exponentially.

Another alternative is Firefox, from Mozilla. I have Chrome, Firefox and several other browsers on my machines because I need to test forum render in multiple browsers, and this has never affected my computer, other than having multiple platforms to work with. ;)
