Hi, I'm just getting back into cycling and saw a nice community on here.

Some personal background- I have been a lover of 2-wheeled transport of all kinds (hence the "anti-cager" title) for over 22 years, since my first ride on a bicycle at 3 years old. I love riding and maintaining both bicycles and motorcycles, and have never in 7 years of driving owned a car. (I don't dislike people for owning cars or anything like that, but I have never been able to enjoy being enclosed while travelling).

My last bicycle, an old Trek I had kitted out with lights, a tool bag, etc, basically a capable tourer, was stolen two years ago and I didn't have the money for a new bike, and still don't really, I'm doing a budget project bike right now that should do well street and trail. Maybe not as well as a proper ATB, road bike etc but well enough.

I'm also a huge fan of George Carlin, Hugh Laurie and Christopher Hitchens, and have been an "animal advocate" for a long time as well. Mainly, in that respect I have worked to help ban sport hunting of foxes and wolves, and helped rescue dogs and cats for a few years before college.

Anyway, nice to find a cycling forum as large and diverse as this and I'm looking forward to learning from everyone.

So cheers and hello. :)

Houston. It's a nice city but I miss the trails and off-road stuff from back in Austin and Denver CO.
