Hey guys, first time poster on the forum and first time dealing with vintage bikes to boot!
My beloved 2005 Specialized Dolce Comp was stolen last week. I started hunting for replacements early this week and eventually bought this bike, which I am having trouble ID'ing. I want to know mostly for curiosity (and perhaps current value to make sure I wasn't ripped off), but I'm not intending to sell this bike, like, ever. It rides beautifully and it looks and feels practically new, the only damage is paint/cosmetics and that's fine with me...maybe people wont' steal it then :P
It says it's a Specialized "Transition" but the Transitions that exists today are fairly recent and definitely not made in steel frames. Random google searching tipped me off that the full name of this line might've been "Specialized Allez Transitions" and a subsequent scouring of BikePedia.com revealed that the parts most closely resemble the 1993 Specialized Allez Pro. However, when I search for that online, none of the bikes look like the one I have. Nor am I sure the Allez line was really called Transition at any point.
Things I have ID'ed for sure:
It has full Shimano 600/Ultegra equipment
Mavic Open 4 CD hard anodized rims with Continental 700cm tires
49cm frame with Gore-Tex Ride On cables (wtf Gore-Tex on a Tri-bike???)
For paranoia's sake, could anyone tell me what I own? Allez with a custom paint job? Custom bike built form different parts? Or - God forbid - a chinese knockoff?
