For street and occasional track use, how is dt spokes kinlin XR-300 paired with Miche Primato Pista Track Hubset High Flange 28 spoke? or are their better options for around the same price?

Next to deep v's and h+son and formula hubs, it's pretty light

Is it fine to use like 24h rim with a 28h hub and leave out 4 spots on the hub?

gonna be a pain in the ass to calculate spokes for that. because the spokes are now not evenly distributed about the hub, but are evenly distributed on the rim.

Ah makes sense. How do I calculate spoke length if I have a rim and a hub? I plan on getting the kinlin xr-300's with Miche Primato Pista Track Hubset High Flange 28. But I dont want my LBS to use their own spokes, they are already so much more expensive than online

i'm about the get a road wheelset with xr-300s - 20 spokes F, 24 spokes rear. No weight limit. So i'm sure 28 will be plenty tough for the street.

If you were going to order that Ambrosio wheelset, bear in mind that FedEx (which is what that merchant uses) will kill you with import fees/duties.

Who doesn't kill you with duties then? Everytime I order stuff from ups I always get raped with duites and or brokage

Make sure any American retailer you order from ships with USPS only. Not UPS. The standard U.S. Postal Service. You'll pay only GST.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks

you'd have to buy it at the store, pretty sure you'd need a spoke length calculator.

kinlin doesn't make 28 spoke rims?

yes they do.
they don't do 36h, but kinlin comes in drillings of 18, 20, 24, 28 and 32.
check out fairwheel bikes, they stock kinlin rims, and in multiple colours.

XR-300 have an ERD of 582mm, same as velocity Deep-V, but you should measure to be sure.

you can use a 36h hub and 24h rim by skipping every 3rd hole.
cross length required is 2.18x, or just add 2mm to a 24h 2x length.

you would need about 4 different spoke lengths to do a 24h rim to a 28h hub.
