Hello ALL:)

I have joined this forum with a specific goal to help my son. He is doing a research project at school his topic is the Perception of Safety for Cyclists on Tallebudgera Creek Road.

He likes to cycle but I won't let him ride along this road as I think it unsafe. He would also like to approach local council etc authorities to try and get a bike way built. (Big ambitions)

Any way he has a little survey he needs cyclist to do So if anybody is familiar with the road or likes to ride it could I please ask you to do the survey. :o

I am sure if you would like to add additional comments from your experiences that would be great too. I have attached a word doc with the survey this can be emailed back to me kgwinner(at) tpg.com.au- Or I have pasted it below if technology is not kind.

Thank you in advanced if you can help him with the survey. Much appreciated

K

As someone who regularly rides on that road (both day and night) I'll reply here. Your son actually left a comment on my blog about this survey as well, FWIW.

There is a safety issue for people cycling on Tallebudgera Creek Road.

Disagree - It's no worse than any other road on the Gold Coast.

There needs to be a cycling path on Tallebudgera Creek Road.

Strongly disagree - bike paths don't do anything to increase cyclist safety -- and the majority of cyclists on that road wouldn't use it anyway.

If a new cycling path was made, there should be a guard rail between
It and the road.

Strongly disagree - same reasons as above.

If the cycling path and the guard rail are not approved, the speed limit of cars on this road be handicapped.

Agree - But first I'd settle for existing speed limits being enforced.

Cyclists should not be allowed to cycle on Tallebudgera Creek Road.

Strongly disagree - banning cyclists from a particular road won't stop Queensland from topping the national road toll year after year, considering that cyclists actually make up a minute percentage of overall road deaths.

There is not a safety issue for cyclists on Tallebudgera Creek Road.

See my answer to question one, this is effectively the same question rehashed.
