Nice piece in the Seattle Times today -- just a general overview of the Seattle biking scene, talking about all the different types of cyclists; why people choose to ride in such a hilly/wet/cool city.
Includes interviews with Bill Davidson and various riders.
Nice article...

BTW, has the typical crazy "get off the road" commentary from "readers."

Nice article. I was impressed by the fact that a number of the early comments were pro-cycling. From the complaints, it sounds like WA could do with redefining the MUPs as roads without sidewalks to prevent the ped-led critical mass. I was a teeny bit bothered by the references to cycling making one feel like a child again.

A good article. I'm not sure why it started with the Chilly Hilly, which let out several months ago, but I enjoyed it. And the "bikes make me feel like a kid again" stuff didn't bother me. It's pretty clear that these people were talking about how bikes bring back the joy and wonder of childhood ... not so much that bikes are only fit for children.
This was a bit surprising:
Thorness rode 3,000 miles over two years while researching the different routes he needed to write "Biking Puget Sound," hunting gentle grades and low-traffic roadways. It never got old.
After discovering Bike Forums, I found myself goaded into riding more than this ... I was probably at about 3,000 miles per year before I knew about this site, and now it's 500 miles per month.

Indeed, 1,500 miles a year doesn't seem like very much. Maybe they dropped a zero by accident?
