Stat holiday means you get the day off work AND your employer has to pay you. If you are working, you get time-and-a-half. Also it's not deducted from your vacation time and it's Canada-wide (for most of them). And it's stopped raining! Thanks, Queen Victoria!

Victoria liked the idea of having a holiday named after her because she was an unrepentant boozehound.

Meh. We have there here in Cali. It's called a floating holiday. If you are working you get paid triple time. (Double time for working it and regular paid time). I get 7 of them per year.
Do you get paid for jury duty? AND mileage? Top THAT! *feelin' all smug now*

Yeah, we get paid for jury duty, but it's a pittance. And it's the law in Saskatchewan, if you have to drive for work your employer has to pay you mileage.

For only $200! :) And the neat thing is that if you'd like, you can even have matching Social Security numbers! :thumb:
Anyways... who started this stoopid thread? I admit that some aspects of Canada are better, far better. Same can be said for the US, UK or hundreds of other nations. Peaceout yanks!

Hey cool, another person from Saskatchewan ... not that I live there anymore :( . Forget bragging about Canada, you live in the best Province of Canada! If you happen to be lucky enough to live in Saskatoon, then I'm really jealous!
On the plus side, it's warm and sunny, albeit a bit smoggy, here is Southern Ontario.

Yeah, we get all that ... and the government gives us all free beer on the holiday weekends. OK, I may have dreamt that last bit.

Ugh. Try a list that's recent (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Flyers#Current_roster). I'm not arguing your point, but your list has folks that have been gone for two years.
