I am looking to build or purchase a tricycle that can tow 2,000 lbs at up to 4 miles per hour. I would like to have a reverse gear as well. So far, I have considered retrofitting a torker tricycle with a sturmey archer grear box, which has 5 speeds and a reverse. Has anyone done something similiar before? Perhaps there is already a company that makes such a trike.

When I met the builder in 1994, he claimed that the trike in this link was used to tow his station wagon. Whether that included hills or not was not said but there is no reason to doubt. When I rode it, he had a super low 1:10 first gear - yes... pedal 10 revs and the ATV wheel spins only once.
