I have no idea what this actually is, but I assume it was genuinely used for a purpose and not just some novelty. I like the wooden brake shoes... and the gearing looks like this thing is made to move. I have no idea what the water tanks are for. I assume hydration for the engine? I stumbled across this on bike ride near Figgjo, and apologize for the phone cam images.152421152422152423

Probably a lot better than would seem from the mechanical appearance. Relatively level track is very very low rolling resistance with the matching wheels, so it wouldn't take much energy to get it rolling.
It even appears that the cargo hoppers actually tip over the sides.... maybe this was for some kind of low-tech mining or farming.

That's a rail bike for riding rail road tracks, a hobby which seems to have a small following. Just look at the number of videos about it on You Tube.
