Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I posted this in touring without any response. Maybe someone here can help.

I am planning to do this June 16-20.

Day 1: Longmont to RMNP via route 7. Camp at Moraine Park.

Day 2: Leave very early. Over Trail Ridge Road then North on Rt 125. Camp at Denver Creak or Sawmill Gulch campground (any recommendation of one vs other?)

Day 3: Continue north on Rt 125 then East on Rt 14 through Gould. Camp at Ranger Lakes campground. It looks like there are several camgrounds in the immediate vicinity of Ranger Lakes. Any recommendations of one over another?

Day 4: Continue east on Rt 14. North on Rt 162 to Red Feather Lakes. Can anyone recommend a campground in the Red Feather Lakes area?

Day 5: South on 162 back to Rt 14. Resume east on Rt 14. South on Rt 27 and work my way back to Longmont.

Thanks for any suggestions. Regarding camping in the Arapahoe/Roosevelt Forest, am I aloud to just find a spot and make camp?

Paul

I can't help with any info on your planned ride, but it seems like an awesome trip.
I'm hoping to relocate to CO in the next 12 - 18 months and Longmont is one of the cities I am considering. I love the Front Range area, and Longmont seems like it may be affordable. But I've not found much info on cycling from Longmont, particularly mountain biking. Any good trails or trail systems within biking distance of Longmont?? Or would one have to drive to bike (MTB)?
