you cannot have us internet folk hold your hand through the purchase of a bike. read up. take some time. this forum has a million threads on various entry level bikes, and asking if a specific one is "good" isn't going to yield you any one answer. go try riding one. if you like it and it feels good, come back and ask about that specific bike, or better... find one of the countless threads there are already about it, and then ask any questions that you couldn't find an answer to. sounds like you want to get on the road, so go ride some bikes and find one you like!

step 1. buy bike
step 2. ride bike
step 3. figure out what you like and don't like
step 4. learn and customize
step 5. ???
step 6. profit.

Not one of those bikes pictured in that ad (shimmy shimmy y'all) are worth a dollar over the 99 dollar walmart junker.

I'd rather roll one of those beach cruisers.

Like the post above says, read up and learn through the forums, or just buy one of those 400 dollar rips and give it a go with your daddy's credit card.
