Retired military (USAF) just north of San Antonio, recently turned 60 and just trying to stay in shape (ran regularly while on active duty, including several marathons). Been walking 4-6 miles, 5 days a week and would like to start biking to pick up the pace after seeing quite a few cyclists on base blow by me...<G>. Last bike was a Raleigh 10 speed back in the late 70s when stationed in the UK. Have spent the past 2 weeks checking out local bike shops and reading the threads here. Really have learned a lot from you all and the bike shop folks - they have been very friendly/helpful. Looking for a quality hybrid (leaning towards a Trek 7200/7300 or 7.2/7.3FX) to ride on base roads and see where that takes me.....

Hopefully, I'll work my way up to a road bike in the future.....just need to make a decision on a bike so I can start riding....:) Buying process is not easy with so much to choose from and so much to learn....

Appreciate you taking the time to welcome all us "newbies" to the forum.....
